Raison d'etre


A home should be like a symphony; not a Mahler, but a Sibelius or Brahms, it should have an overarching tonality. Every room should flow into another; each item should complement a definite theme. Each home should have a statement, a direction, to encompass an idea about the individual. Within this idea there can be the surprise, that bright red cushion in the bedroom, or a lion’s mouth at the end of the bath. This is where the fun of design begins.

A home is fundamentally personal; a good designer will not create a show home but something that reflects your personality. The challenge lies with the balance between the beautiful, the functional and the personal, to elicit a vision of the individual into a home that is grounded by warmth and welcome. The key to this ambition is to use colours, images and furnishings that evoke feelings, that are emblematic of ideas, that constitute the tonality and totality of a theme.
